I had actually started this at SB's this AM, but a friend came and sat down, and I never got back to it.Here's to 1.1. He's Son-in-Law of The Day for his sub-4 hour time in the Twin Cities Marathon today. (This is a pic from Houston in January.) You 'da man! Congratulations.
Pretty exciting up in the TC today for baseball fans as well with the Twins managing to tie for the divisional title which will be decided by a one-game playoff on Tuesday. I'm not much of an American League fan, but it's hard to not root for Joe Mauer. Interesting that you play a 162 game regular season, and then play one game to decide it all. Life is not always fair.
I've got to admit that I watched the Olympic selection coverage on Friday and was indifferently gratified that Chicago was passed over for Rio. Having lived in the Chicago metropolitan area for four years, and having maintained close proximity to C-town for the last 30 years, my opinion of Cook County politics and Cook County politicians had me convinced that Chicago would set Olympic records for corruption in the years of construction and other preparations for the Games. The corruption phase would only have been exceeded by the subsequent years of litigation that would have surely followed.
Then you have the outrageousness of various Hollywood sympathizers coming to the defense of film director Roman Polansky who is possibly being extradited to the US on a decades-old rape charge. Very interesting the obtuse logic used by these "progressive" thinkers to white-wash a heinous crime committed on an 13 year old girl.
Finally feeling like my body is back to normal. The first 80% came back in just a couple of days. But that last 20% was very difficult.

the weekend here was a success. 3 on friday night, mom, 2, and winnie getting in late (almost midnight!) expo on sat with sarah and tony, 3 to the airport, lunch shopping, and dinner at mama's. race day weather was as good as a runner could ask for and finally 1.1 got a decent tcm! if you recall, the first one was in blazing heat and humidity and the second in pouring rain. mom and 2 left pretty quickly after the race. i got a workout in and we met some fellow marathon finishers for dinner at a local watering hole.
big sports weekend in the twin cities with the twins in town, the packers/vikings tonight, and the marathon yesterday. i heard a radio station was trying to find someone who was attending all three events and didn't get anyone. it would have been tough to get done with the marathon and over to the dome for the 1:10 start. 1.1 will be in attendance at the vikings game tonight and i am not at all jealous.
busy week at school. parent conferences wed. night. our school requires teachers to submit copying jobs to be sent out of the building to be printed. apparently it saves cost. lately it has been a week turn-around to get something back. i was supposed to give a test on fri and didn't have my copying back. postponed it to today and still don't have them. looks like i'll be racking up in house copying numbers, but what's a girl to do?
finally getting over the cold. maybe it had to do with the 8:30 bedtime last night?
